Our history
Transforming Lives Through the Arts Since 2004
Founded in Bakersfield, California, LQ’s Performing Arts Center, an arts-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, began as a safe and creative space for youth to express themselves through hip-hop dance and performance and now serves communities in Los Angeles.
Over the years, LQ’s has grown into a multi-program organization serving youth, families, justice-impacted individuals, and professional communities across California.
Through culturally rooted performances, original productions, and transformative arts programming, LQ’s continues to use movement, storytelling, and community to embrace, enhance, and empower the communities through the performing arts.

What began as a local dance space has grown into a movement rooted in healing, expression, and transformation. As LQ’s Performing Arts Center continues to evolve, our commitment remains the same — to uplift communities through the power of the arts.
Our Belief
We believe in the transformative power of the arts to heal, empower, and unite communities. We use the performing arts as a powerful tool for social and cognitive transformation—breaking down both the physical walls of incarceration and the internal barriers individuals place on themselves.
Our goal
Our goal is to deliver trauma-informed, professional performing arts instruction that builds technical skill, creativity, confidence, and personal growth. We uplift students of all ages by providing safe, supportive spaces to express themselves and meaningful platforms to share their talents through performance.

LQ’s Performing Arts Center envisions a world where the performing arts are accessible to all, serving as a pathway to healing, empowerment, and transformation. We strive to be a catalyst for change by nurturing creativity and providing platforms where every individual can learn, grow, and shine.
